The Independent Police Complaints Council (IPCC) was faced with a rapidly expanding volume of case information and the need to strengthen its research work. Nexify was brought on to develop a new Electronic Case Information Management System (ECIMS) that could quickly and efficiently create, store, organise, maintain, retrieve and manipulate this data. Two further requirements were that the new ECIMS should include all the functions and features of the existing system, and should be able to enrich case details as well as track the progress of each case.
We chose to build the ECIMS based on web technology, incorporating robust case management and document management functions on top of enterprise content management solutions from IBM Advanced Case Manager (ACM) and IBM FileNet. This enabled us to create a well-controlled and secure repository to store cases details and documents for the IPCC.
Leveraging the new and sophisticated ECIMS implemented by Nexify, the IPCC is now able to streamline the case examination process and facilitate efficient workflows. The centralised paperless database of case information was not only secure, but allowed for easier monitoring, advanced research and data analysis. The IPCC’s users could now easily review the progress of cases on the new system, and the automated case management process helped them focus on increasing productivity across the board. All the information they needed to make crucial decisions about individual cases was immediately available with a simple search.
